The Yacht Club was founded in 1990 by members of the South Gulf Cove community. Currently our membership consists of over 250 member households. The Yacht Club's mission is based on, but not limited to the following:
  • To promote boating, recreational and social activities, and fellowship,
  • To participate in greater aspects of boating in the state of Florida,
  • To participate in civic projects which relate to the quality and use of the navigable waters of Charlotte County and surrounding areas.

The Yacht Club has been recognized as the premier social organization within South Gulf Cove. We organize a wide range of events and activities, some on the water and some on land. Water activities include raft-ups in the Interceptor Lagoon, poker runs, luncheon trips to various restaurants around Charlotte Harbor and beyond, overnight trips to resorts in Southwest Florida, the Florida Keys and the east coast of Florida and an annual Lighted Boat Parade in December. Land events include themed diner dance parties such as Halloween Party, Sweetheart Dance, Oktoberfest, plus other events such as Lobster & Clam Bake, Monte Carlo Night, Stone Crab Baseball night, and more.

Welcome New Members
We are on a big growth kick, up to 260 member Households.  Let’s all send a hardy Welcome Aboard to the newest members of the SGCYC.
Lon & Rhonda Chaney have a 21’ Hurricane Sun Deck on Singer Circle. They hail from Greensboro, NC.
Kevin & Dina Morrison moved from Palentine, Il to Athel Drive. They can be seen out & about on their 22’ Godfrey Tri-Toon.
Tom & Chris Rowan are full-time residents on Antwerp Circle.  They are both retired and just moved from Harrisburg, PA.
Dave & Tammy Specyal moved from northwest Indiana to Taurus Circle. Look for them on their 18’ Four Winns Cruiser.
James & Carol Wightman live on Aldama Circle. Their new boat, a Sea Fox Commander should be in the water shortly. The Wightmans join the large contingent of Maineiacs in our ranks, including the Commodore and Treasurer.

Become a Member
The South Gulf Cove Yacht Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm in the American Legion Post #113, located at 3426 Indiana Street Rotonda, Florida 33847.
Membership is open to any person who resides or owns property within South Gulf Cove. Dues are $40.00 per year per household with a one time $25.00 registration fee. If you are interested in becoming a member print the Membership Application, compete it and attach a check for the dues and initiation fee and mail the completed application to the address on the top of the application, or drop it off with our Membership Chairperson at one of our monthly meetings.

Lock Remotes
Anyone interested in purchasing a Remote Control for the South Gulf Cove Lock, can purchase them by contacting Tom Ireland from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday at 941-698-1909. Cost is $32. You do not need to be a South Gulf Cove Yacht Club member to purchase a Lock Remote.
